When you purchase auto insurance, for example, you need to get with your agent, even if it’s online. You need to ask these questions via chat. But if you get the minimal liability limits, which in Alabama is $25,000, then you need to make sure that you get uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage and match that amount.

If you get $100,000 in coverage you need to get $100,000 in uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, or 300,000, or a million, or whatever the number is. Always match those numbers. Because, if you don’t, and something happens, you may just have those minimal limits apply to you and your family, when you should always protect yourself as well and have the same amount of coverage for you and your family that you do to protect other people on the road.
