Traumatic brain injuries, TBIs. They can range from a very mild to a very severe brain injury. The severe ones are very easy to diagnose. Those are diagnosed with your typical types of equipment that a doctor can order right here, you know, in town. Other types of injuries, like mild traumatic brain injuries, have to be worked up, usually by a neuropsychiatrist or neuropsychologist. There is special equipment that has to be used to detect the very small bruising and tears associated with a mild traumatic brain injury.
Those are real cases. It affects people’s lives dramatically, but the workup of those types of cases is where you have to have an attorney work with the physician to get the right diagnosis. Otherwise, the insurance company will just ignore it and say you can’t prove your case.
