What does statute of limitations mean?
Video Transcript
You know, that is a really important question. Statute of Limitations, I tell people here at our firm, is the only thing that as a law firm we can’t fix. The Statute of Limitations on most injury cases in Alabama is two years. So, what that means is, at the expiration of two years, if you don’t have a lawsuit filed, you forever lose your claim. Now that does not mean you have to have your claim settled or tried in two years, but you have to have a lawsuit filed in two years. And a lawyer is going to need a little bit of time to prepare your case for filing. So, the two year statute of limitations is a point in time when we cannot help you anymore beyond that.
