When we see distracted driving cases, those are cases where we are really able to help our clients. An example of that: If you are texting and driving in Alabama, you are actually breaking the law by doing that. It is not just negligence. You are breaking the law, and that can give rise to punitive damages. So, in our state, if you are texting and driving, it’s akin to drinking and driving. Not only are you responsible for the damage you cause, but a jury can also award damages to punish you for that behavior. So those can be very large verdicts.
