JD Lawrence with the Law Firm of Farris, Riley & Pitt, LLP has filed a claim against Charles Brian Hogg of McCalla, Alabama for the wrongful death of Mr. Patrick T. Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a road construction worker repaving Interstate 20/59 in Bessemer, Alabama. Mr. Hogg drove through traffic control barriers into a closed lane where Mr. Jackson was working and struck him with his vehicle. The incident occurred on September 9, 2021, at mile marker 111. Mr. Hogg left the scene of the incident but was later apprehended and charged with DUI.
Attorney Lawrence sheds light on the severity of this case, “This is a tragic situation where an individual chose to drive under the influence and fatally injured my client. Mr. Hogg’s decision to drink and drive led him to disregard the warning signs and safety barriers erected to protect the workers in the area. Unfortunately, these types of cases happen too often. In the news, there is a similar incident that happened recently regarding a Fed-Ex driver who hit and killed a construction worker and then fled the scene of the accident. This should not happen. Drunk and distracted driving tragedies are avoidable.”
